The MacBook Pro is a new line of laptop computers by Apple. The MacBook Pro or MBP is the successor to the Powerbook G4. It is also the first laptop by Apple that is powered by an Intel processor. Currently the MacBook Pro is available in a 15" and 17" widescreen. The 15" has a low end and high end version. The MacBook is the perfect choice if you want a Mac and Windows laptop. Using Bootcamp you can boot either into OSX or Windows. Or you could run Windows inside OSX using Parallels Virtualization software. A new MacBook Pro might break the bank for some people, so a used MacBook Pro is not a bad choice. Here are some things you need to keep in mind before looking for a used Mac Book Pro.

Things to watch out for when buying a MacBook:

  • Noise: A hissing noise often described as a whine, found to be caused by an idle processor.
  • Heat: Excessive heating, apparently caused by the application of excessive quantities of thermal grease on the processor during manufacturing.
  • Battery: In some early models the supplied battery is faulty, and may eventually start swelling while losing capacity.
